Mangkasara' Molulo 2026 Bridges Nusantara Heritage and Southeast Asian Brotherhood in Makassar

MAKASSAR — Losari Beach Pavilion in Makassar City stood as a historic testament to cross-border cultural bonds and brotherhood during the Pagelaran Budaya Mangkasara' Molulo 2026 on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Merging the warmth of traditional Celebes heritage, the showcase successfully drew widespread public engagement while fostering cultural collaboration within the ASEAN region.

The event was further elevated by the presence of two prominent cultural figures from Malaysia as honored guests: Hj. Azmee Bin Abd Manap from Terengganu and Mohammad Syamsul Fidhuan Bin Masri from Selangor Darul Ehsan. Their participation marks a strategic milestone in developing a synergistic ecosystem for culture and tourism between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Beyond bilateral diplomacy, the Malaysian delegation reinforced consolidation within the International Nusantara Cultural Forum (INCAF). INCAF serves as a collaborative network uniting artists and cultural experts from four Nusantara nations: Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. Expanding beyond the Malay archipelago, the event also welcomed foreign diplomatic representatives, including a delegate from the Embassy of Bangladesh who observed the collaborative showcase firsthand.

Stenly Diover, the initiator of Mangkasara' Molulo and General Chairman of the Southeast Sulawesi Earth Anoa Youth Association (AMBA SULTRA INDONESIA), highlighted the broader vision behind the event.

"We hope this initiative serves as a symbol of unity and tangible collaboration—both across regions in Sulawesi and among ASEAN member states. This synergy is essential to strengthening a sustainable, culture-driven creative economy and tourism ecosystem," Stenly stated.
